LBSM: Lakewood Baptist Student Ministry
PURSUIT: This is our identity. We are always in pursuit of God and sharing His love to the world. We pursue to SHOW UP in our relationship with God through personal devotion, as a family of believers, and through both personal and group worship! We pursue to RUN WELL in the race of life so that others may come to know our Lord Jesus Christ as they look upon our lives! We pray that every choice, thought, action, word, deed, and motive is pleasing to Christ! We pursue to FINISH STRONG in our PURSUIT of holiness knowing that perfection is our goal and only God is able to perfect us. Since we have a goal in mind, let us not be distracted in anyway so that we will run the race well! We must keep going no matter the cost because we know that the reward is far greater than the struggle.
SIMPLY PUT WE PURSUE THREE THINGS:
TO SHOW UP, TO RUN WELL, AND TO FINISH STRONG
If students and their families recognize God and build the healthy relationship with God that He desires, then it will allow us to be vessels that glorify God in all that we do.
KEY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 “24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27 No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
So, Why the Theme? Why the Names?
We have the name and theme in order to give ownership to our students in our Student Ministry. The students helped to determine the logo and the name. Everything about our reflect the concept of pursuit so that our message is clear.
